Ridgewood, NJ – DAK Group, a leading investment bank specializing in middle-market mergers and acquisitions, announced the sale of its client, The TAPCO Companies, a vertically integrated manufacturer of steel tubing and building products, to Speyside Equity, a private equity firm focused on investments in middle-market industrial and manufacturing businesses.
DAK Group served as the exclusive financial advisor to The TAPCO Companies, managing the transaction process and identifying a partner with the industry expertise, operational resources and strategic vision to drive the Company’s next phase of growth.
“The owners of The TAPCO Companies have devoted years to building a business they can be proud of,” said Derek Zacarias, Director, DAK Group. “This sale allows them to realize the value of their hard work and investment while positioning the company for expansion.”
This transaction marks an exciting next chapter for TAPCO. The company provides a strong foundation for growth, and the transaction creates opportunities to expand its platform capabilities and fuel long-term strategic initiatives, backed by Speyside’s investment and significant experience in growing manufacturing, metal-forming and building materials businesses.
“The DAK team were terrific partners throughout this process,” said David Schrader, President of The TAPCO Companies. “They brought a great combination of professionalism, creativity and persistence to the table. There were certainly challenges along the way, but they never lost sight of what we were trying to accomplish. Their commitment to our business and to finding the right partner made a real difference, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”
The TAPCO Companies is headquartered in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and comprises two complementary businesses: The Tapco Tube Company, a manufacturer of structural and mechanical steel tubing, and Akron Products, a manufacturer of building products serving the residential construction and broader building materials markets.
Zacarias led the transaction alongside Alan Scharfstein, CEO of DAK Group. The team also included Associates Yanni Leakas and Matthew Wisneski.
